FARGO, N.D. – Incoming South Dakota State University wrestlers combined to earn five All-America honors at the recently completed 2019 U.S. Marine Corps/USA Wrestling Junior Nationals at the Fargodome.

Cade DeVos and Spencer Trenary each earned All-America honors in both freestyle and Greco-Roman as members of Team Iowa, while Caleb Gross also was a Greco-Roman All-American for Team Wisconsin.

DeVos, a native of Altoona, Iowa, won the 160-pound tile in the Greco-Roman competition, posting a 6-0 record. He won four of his matches by 10-0 scores before earning a 5-1 decision over Ryan Cody of Florida in the championship bout.

In freestyle competition, DeVos reached the finals, falling by a 12-2 count to Padraic Gallagher of Ohio. DeVos won three matches by 10-point margins en route to a 5-1 record.

Trenary went 4-1 in finishing Greco-Roman competition as the runner-up at 285 pounds. He advanced to the finals by winning a tiebreaker over Donovan King of Michigan, then fell 10-0 to Luke Luffman of Illinois in the championship bout.

A recruit from Rolfe, Iowa, Trenary added a fourth-place finish in freestyle with a 6-2 mark. Trenary was defeated by Team South Dakota’s Nash Hutmacher in the third-place match, 13-4. Trenary outscored his opponents by a combined 67-10 margin in his seven other freestyle matches.

Gross recorded a fourth-place in the 132-pound Greco-Roman junior division, turning in an 8-2 record in a competitive weight class. Both of Gross’ losses came to Kellyn March of Team South Dakota. Gross, from Pound, Wisconsin, also turned in a 3-2 record in freestyle.

Other Jackrabbit signees competing in the weeklong competition were 126-pounder Daniel Kimball for Team Iowa and 182-pounder Caleb Orris for Team South Dakota.
