FARGO, N.D. — Five members of the incoming freshman class for the South Dakota State University wrestling team are scheduled to compete in the junior division of the 2019 U.S. Marine Corps Junior National Championships, which get under way Sunday.

Three of the future Jackrabbits will wrestle as members of Team Iowa: 126-pounder Daniel Kimball, 160-pounder Cade DeVos and heavyweight Spencer Trenary. Kimball went a combined 127-11 over his last three seasons at Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville, Iowa, winning a Class 1A state title at 106 pounds as a junior, before ending his prep career with a 43-2 record en route to a runner-up finish in the 120-pound division this past winter. Kimball also has earned All-America honors while wrestling both folkstyle and freestyle.

DeVos compiled a 162-7 career record at Southeast Polk High School and won back-to-back state championships. He claimed the Class 3A state at 145 pounds as a junior, then went undefeated at 37-0 to earn the 160-pound championship in 2019. Devos placed seventh at Fargo Nationals in 2018 in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Trenary returns to Fargo, where he has been a five-time All-American in both cadet and junior competition. At the high school level, Trenary was a four-time state placewinner for Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, including winning a Class 2A state crown with a 50-0 record as a senior. He was state runner-up as a junior and placed third as a sophomore.

Representing Team South Dakota is 182-pounder Caleb Orris. The Clark-Willow Lake High School product won consecutive Class B state titles at 170 pounds in 2018 and 182 pounds in 2019. He completed an undefeated senior season with a 47-0 mark.

Rounding out the lineup of future Jackrabbits is 132-pounder Caleb Gross, who will wrestle for Team Wisconsin. As a member of the Coleman High School program, Gross posted back-to-back Class D3 state titles, finishing with a 47-1 mark in the 120-pound weight class as a junior and a 43-3 record in the 126-pound division as a senior.

The Fargo Nationals run through Friday at the Fargodome.
